The main reason I wrote this lesson was to try and answer some of the problems bass players have around learning the bass via YouTube or the internet.
- "I've reached a point where I don't know what to study. All the different YouTube videos are starting to be less informative and I'm stalling my progress."
- "It's so hard to learn bass. There are too many things to learn."
These kinds of comments point to two things:
- Information overload
- No goals, focus, or clarity
Fortunately we can do something about all this and that's what this bass guitar tutorial is all about!
The lesson is split up into three parts:
- Goals (the WHY behind you learning bass)
- Foundations (WHAT to learn)
- Practice (HOW to learn)
You'll find loads more lessons, practice plans, and concrete east-to-follow lessons in my premium course From Beginner To Bassist.

Theres something called the 80/20 rule (or Pareto's Principle) and it goes something like 80% of the outcomes are decided by the 20%.
That means we can disregard A LOT of the noise that hits us from all angles and focus on the basics that will help your bass playing.
Those foundational principles will never let you down!
