Ron LaPraed started jamming in the studio whilst recording with Commodores, the rest of the band gradually joined in and Brickhouse was born. It's a funky riff that's fun to play on bass guitar.
This video lesson shows you the main riff and then how to add some fills using an A Dorian mode, A minor pentatonic and the blues scale.
Download the drum beat play along:
Listen to the original and try and figure out by ear what Ron plays. There's a cool B section that directly outlines the dorian mode.
Compliment this riff with other bass lines you can find here.
Dan’s the man! I have played this wrong for years.
Thanks Kevin!
