I like to think of slap bass as a drummer would:
- The thumb is the kick drum
- The pop is the snare
- Inter-play between the two hands creates a hi-hat pattern
The way drummers lock into a groove and play with such precision and accuracy is something we bassists can learn from.
This bass lesson explores playing the bass like a drum kit.
Make sure to scroll down for the free PDF with the lines plus the E Minor Pentatonic scale shapes (excellent for fills and bass solos!).
I mentioned using the excellent Beat Buddy as a metronome (it can play back drum beats too). If you're interested, click this link and use this code: DAN10.
