Slap bass is all about rhythm, timing, and precision. In this lesson, I'll take you through a 1/16th note slap bass groove that's perfect for tightening up your timing, improving your slap technique, and locking in with the drums. And the best part? You can download a free TAB and drum loop to practice along with the lesson (scroll down).
What You’ll Learn in This Lesson
- A powerful 1/16th note slap bass groove that you can use in your own lines.
- Essential slap techniques to keep your playing tight and controlled.
- How to lock in with a drum loop and maintain precise timing.
How to Practice This Groove
Start Slow: Begin at a tempo where you can play each note cleanly and consistently. Focus on accuracy and evenness.
Break It Down: Work on each section of the groove separately. Master each small chunk before moving on to the next.
Use the Drum Loop: Once you feel comfortable with the groove, play along with the drum loop to practice your timing and rhythmic feel.
Speed It Up: Gradually increase the tempo, but only when you can play each section cleanly. Quality over speed!
To make practicing easier, I’ve included a free downloadable TAB and drum loop. You can use these to get the groove under your fingers and really nail down the rhythm.
