7 ESSENTIAL Bass Guitar Rhythms

In this bass lesson we're going to perform a kind of musical alchemy by taking a single pattern and playing it in seven different rhythmic feels.

The pattern is a very common and simple root - 5 - b7 - octave:

Bass Pattern - root 5 b7 octave

We'll be playing the following musical grooves:

  1. Straight 1/8th rock
  2. Shuffle blues
  3. Straight 1/16th funk
  4. Swing 1/16th dance
  5. Tumbao
  6. Dotted 1/4 to 1/8th pop
  7. Compound 12/8
