One Pentatonic Pattern, Endless Fretless Bass Lines

Don't worry if you don't have a fretless bass guitar; you can just as easily apply the ideas from this lesson to your fretted bass.

In this bass tutorial, I'll show you an extremely useful pentatonic pattern that you can use to compose your own bass lines and fills.

First, I'll teach you the written bass line, which you can download below, along with the shape and a backing track.

If you're looking to learn how to create tasty bass lines, this lesson is for you.

  • Hi Dan. I watch most of the free lessons that you promote through your email newsletter and just want to thank you for being so generous with these. I realise that the free lessons are perhaps a “leader” to encourage people to buy your courses (and I have bought one of your books as a result of watching your lessons) but you certainly don’t over-plug your courses and books. The lessons stand out as well constructed, informative, and a real pleasure to watch. Thanks again. Stewart.

    • Thanks very much, Stewart! The free lessons are mostly standalone and you don’t require to take one of my courses but they’re there for whoever wants to go deeper.
