Learn How To Play Groove Is In The Heart Bass Line (Deee-lite)

In this bass tutorial I'll show you how to play the incredibly cool bass line from Groove Is In The Heart by Deee-Lite.

I'll also show you:

  1. How to transpose it into the original key (it's a sample taken from Bring Down The Birds - see below).
  2. How to play fills around the line.
  3. How to nail the EXACT tone as the original.
  4. Who I think played the bass line (it's not Bootsy Collins).

Scroll down for the TAB and scale shapes.

The bass line for this song is a sample taken from Blow Up, a film that Herbie Hancock produced the soundtrack for. Ron Carter played on the album and the song is called Bring Down The Birds.

Check out how much faster it is! Also notice that it's a tone up - in the key of Bb Minor.

Transpose the line by playing the exact same pattern as the TAB but two frets higher.
