I'm all about making bass practice sound fun and avoiding boredom and frustration.
If you play music that sounds good, you'll enjoy yourself more. In fact, I wrote a whole book of musical sounding bass guitar exercises.
I've got loads of free lessons on this site too.
This lesson features another great sounding bass guitar exercises that uses chords from Hotel California by The Eagles.
It's a beautiful chord progression and I've written a very simple arpeggio exercise for you (scroll down to download the free backing track and notation/TAB).
I also think it's a great idea to immediately start making your own music with any new ideas you learn.
With that in mind, the second half of the lesson shows you how to use the chord symbols and arpeggio shapes to make up your own bass lines.

Some excellent lessons here. It’s like I’m learning again from scratch after many years.
Thanks very much, Andrew. Glad they’re helping you…
