This week my iMac decided to die on me. Bad news for the new lessons I had planned for this week...(also bad news for my wallet!).
However, it's a good time for this lesson. I've been meaning to post this for a while now. This is a bass tutorial teaching one of the three pieces at the end of my book Complete Fingerstyle Bass Technique.
It's a slow 12/8 blues in the key of G minor. In the lesson, I demo how you can use the scale shapes below and the techniques from the book to create stunning bass lines, fills, and solos of your own.
Here's the lesson below. Don't forget to scroll down for the TAB/notation plus the backing track (one with an example bass line and one without for you to work your magic on).
If you want to check out the book more, go to this page.
Slow 12/8 Blues For Bass - TAB/Notation & Scale Patterns
Download this PDF, then use the backing track below. First, learn the notated bass line then start to make your own thing up!
With bass. Have a listen to the standard bass line with some improvisation using the techniques and ideas presented in the lesson.
Here it is without bass. Practice to this one.
