How To Play Double Stops on Bass Guitar

Double Stops

Double stops are a fantastic device to use in making up bass lines, fills and in your solos. In the video I take you through three examples of double stops in songs: Bullet In The Head by Rage Against The Machine, Rock With You by Michael Jackson and Don't Give Up by Peter Gabriel. Three common double stop shapes follow.

Common Double Stop Shapes

All the following shapes are chord shapes. A double stop is when you play two notes so just play the notes represented by the black blobs - they work really well in fills and bass lines.
